I provide confidence-building support in Maths and the related areas of Logic, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning to prepare students for future work with Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics and Computing, National Curriculum Tests (SATS), 11+ assessments, secondary school readiness and GCSE Maths.
Although, of course, I am unable to offer a guarantee, to date I have had great success with the students I have supported preparing for the 11+ selection tests then being offered a place at their local grammar school – this is a testament, of course, as much to their own application, dedication and achievement as it is to mine.
I am able to draw on extensive experience providing 1:1 tuition to schools and privately to a variety of students in the Bournemouth and Christchurch area, as well as having an Honour’s degree in Physics with Acoustics, a Master’s degree in Computing, a Primary PGCE at Master’s level and experience teaching Functional Skills (Maths, English and ICT) to teenagers and adults.
The kind of professional, personal tuition that I provide means that students get questions that draw out their thinking, and personalised explanations that foster a deeper understanding than is often possible with a reliance on computer-based learning. In contrast to group sessions, I am able to provide faster interventions and feedback rather than, for example, setting an assessment one week and then going through it the next week when the student may well have forgotten what they did and why they did it.
Safeguarding considerations are paramount and I subscribe to DBS Update, which means my DBS certification is continuously up-to-date. The business is also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office as a Data Controller.
I offer initial face-to-face consultations with prospective clients and students free-of-charge.
Details of half-term dates, fees and charges, terms and conditions and practical information are contained in the Maths tuition guide, which is available on request.

“To Brett,
Thank you so much for helping me.”
“Hi Brett,
I have been talking with [my daughter], and she is very happy with the classes you gave to her and she understood all the concepts you explained to her. Thank you very much for everything. I wish you all the best.” Year 13 A-Level Maths student.
“Brett has shown me that Maths can be fun and now I love Maths!”
“My daughter’s confidence with Maths has grown enormously this past year, plus her enjoyment of the subject too! Massive thank you to Brett, from us both … Sorry but no suggestions for improvements to your services as all aspects listed above were 10/10 from our experience. Many thanks from us both for those aspects too!”
“This service has helped my daughter build her confidence in English & Maths. She no longer worries about her lessons and is excited and eager to try and have a go. I am very impressed by the calm way Mr B. Milner teaches and explains her work to my daughter and would recommend Mr B. Milner’s services to anyone who wants to give their child some extra help with school or exam work.”
“Thank you for your support and kind and caring approach. Wishing you well for the future.”
